Skywhales from Animation City

        Issue # 7 Winter 1983

The music for Skywhales was created by Dirk Higgins. He has tried to suit the music to the environment in which the film is set. The society of aliens is tribal and fairly primitive and he has produced a score using lots of drums and unusual instruments to give an ‘ethnic’ sound.
One of the themes in the film was made by blowing a milk bottle. This sound was fed into an instrument called an Emulator which re-pitched the note along a keyboard so enabling him to play a tune with the sound of blown milk bottles.

The Perlians live on a floating island in the sky.
