About
My name is David Jefferson and I live in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England.
I have a background in graphic design and was the editor of Animator magazine between 1982 and 1995.
Animation has been one of my hobbies for many years. I have explored most methods of animation including drawn, plasticine/clay, puppet and computer. I hope that my articles will help and encourage those readers who make animated movies as a hobby or as students.
The Magazine Library section of this website comprises of magazine articles originally published in Animator’s Newsletter, shortened to ‘Animator’ from issue 9, between 1982 and 1995. I am sure that animation enthusiasts will find inspiration among the pages of Animator magazine, particularly if they are making their own films. Those who are studying the history of animation will be able to mine a rich vein of information from the pages of Animator.
Animator magazine was published in what many consider to be the golden age of hand animation in Britain. The rise of commercial TV advertising provided the backing that fuelled an outpouring of creativity in the UK. In 33 issues of Animator we covered this exciting period and spoke to the animators involved. This is your chance to experience that period with the first hand accounts published in Animator.
