The Scratch the dog cartoon strip first appeared in Animator magazine issue 14, published in winter 1985. Scratch was drawn by Dr. Scratch, an alias for Paul Thomas of Tiger Trax animation. The scratch cartoon strip continued to appear in the next 19 issues of Animator until it ceased publication in 1995.

Just when we thought we had seen all of the Scratch strips from Animator mag Paul Thomas sent us an unpublished cartoon strip. Animator ceased publication before it could be used and Paul has kept it since 1995.
