Winner at Annecy 2011 for best graduation film, it shows a man investigating a cube. It alternates between pen on paper drawings and 3D cardboard models in a way that keeps the viewer guessing about what will happen next. It was directed by Léonard Cohen at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France.
Becca Hyman is an art student at Chelsea Art Foundation, London. Becca said, “This video was made for Canons Follies, our annual charity show in which we basically take the mick out of the school. It is based on the intro from the disney cartoon Recess. NLCS is a posh private school in north london obsessed with A* grades and blackberrys.”

Scott Thierauf is Creative Director/3D Animator at Red Echo Post. He created this a few years ago while between projects. Scott said “It began merely as a lighting test for my first attempts at using the Mental Ray rendering software. I modeled a single gumball machine in Maya and created an hdri lighting setup. After creating this initial setup, a storyline began to develop and this is the outcome.”
This is Ben Lam’s final thesis film for his MFA program in Academy of Art University. It was inspired by early black and white cartoons with a 3d approach.
